The HAI 4.0 project applied on the farm enters Phase 2

The human-centred artificial intelligence (HAI) 4.0 project focuses on using artificial intelligence (AI) to analyse animal behaviour, with the aim of improving livestock welfare and production. Led by the Spanish cluster of pig livestock producers, it involves Ceva Animal Health and other partners. The project, approved within the framework of Spain’s Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan, aims to develop a reliable measure of human–animal relationships using AI techniques such as artificial vision and deep learning. Phase 2 will include on-farm trials and the creation of a ‘HAI-friendly’ seal for participating farms. New stimuli such as unfamiliar people and background music will be evaluated, along with methods to mitigate thermal stress. The project is expected to yield environmental benefits and contribute to improving animal well-being.
