The Distell Inter Hotel Challenge is a major event on the hospitality trade’s calendar. SAPPO was one of the ingredient sponsors.
The hotels enter candidates in various categories such as wine steward and chef of the year. This year 34 hotels participated. SAPPO sponsored the meat that was the focus of the chefs’ main courses. The prize-giving function took place in the Cape Sun in Cape Town last Saturday.
“Our participation ensures that pork remains on the menus of South Africa’s top hotels,” says Marieta Human, SAPPO’s marketing manager.
“SAPPO is proud to be associated with the prestigious Distell Inter Hotel Challenge. South Africa needs healing and a project such as this one is an example for the rest of the country,” said Johann Kotze, CEO of SAPPO, at he event’s prize-giving ceremony in Cape Town.
“This is an example of various role players and people from all spheres of life working together to achieve a common goal and making South Africa a better place. South Africa’s pork producers are proud of their product and we are proud to be part of a project that means progress for the country,” Kotzé said.
The South African Pork Producers’ Organisation (SAPPO) coordinates industry interventions and collaboratively manages risks in the value chain to enable the sustainability and profitability of pork producers in South Africa.
