Vietnam suspends use of ASF vaccine

On 25 August, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) sent a document to 31 major pig producers in Vietnam requiring them to stop African swine fever (ASF) vaccinations in the provinces where pigs have apparently died after being inoculated with the ASF vaccine. According to local authorities, pig herds in different provinces were injected with the ASF vaccine without instructions and guidance of the MARD’s Department of Animal Health. The ministry has established a working group to examine and clarify the cause.
