SA Pork is currently conducting qualitative research and various vox pops (video interviews) in Soweto to gain a better understanding of how pork is perceived, purchased, prepared, and enjoyed among local consumers.
Various interviews have been conducted with street vendors and restaurant owners to find out more about some of the challenges that they are facing when it comes to pork supply, preparation, and sales. Findings from this research will enable SA Pork to better understand the dynamics of pork sales in local communities in order to develop new strategies to assist people who sell prepared pork meals with increasing pork awareness and drive pork sales.
The South African Pork Producers’ Organisation (SAPPO) coordinates industry interventions and collaboratively manages risks in the value chain to enable the sustainability and profitability of pork producers in South Africa.
