SAPPO farmer Tau Leolo (Leolo Agri-Produce) prioritises community development on his farm.
Passion and patience are probably two of the most important traits when it comes to being a farmer, as Tau Leolo, owner of Leolo Agri-Produce, learned from a young age. As a boy, he would work on his grandfather’s farm. Those defining moments inspired him to attend an agricultural high school and to study towards a BSc degree in agriculture and animal production. Today, as a farmer who produces pork, he is working the same land and supplying the very same community and families that his grandfather once did. He owes his success to cultivating personal relationships with the surrounding community over the years – whether it’s through his farm’s student mentorship programme or by going above and beyond to make personal deliveries to elderly community members.
SAPPO is contributing to making agriculture more environmentally friendly, sustainable, and future-looking by working alongside farmers who produce pork across southern Africa.
