Modisaotsile Paul ‘Kenny’ Mocwiri initially studied finance and never dreamed of farming. He learned how to become a farmer the unconventional way – through YouTube videos, hands-on training workshops and guidance from Jack, his SAPPO Business Development Manager – part of a free mentorship programme for farmers who produce pork. Kenny started with four pigs and has grown to 35, while winning awards along the way.
While Kenny admits that the farm lifestyle hasn’t always been easy, but today he is proud to run a business, work for himself, to have taken over his father’s land, and to live according to his life’s purpose.
Watch our short film about how Kenny used this theoretical knowledge, fuelled by purpose and coupled with support from SAPPO to grow his farming business into a diversified operation.
SAPPO is contributing to making agriculture more environmentally friendly, sustainable and future-focused by working alongside farmers who produce pork across southern Africa.
