Tradition has it that by the end of the year one reflects on the past year, especially the trends that emerged and which could give us a peek into next year’s expected trends. This is also useful when you start thinking of business plans for the new year.
A friend told me that the world we are doing business in has changed drastically during the past year and that we need to try to understand how it will influence us in the next few years and how it could change our business environment. I will summarise a few trends that I believe are taking note of.
Our economy is slowly sliding towards lower growth and increased unemployment and thus South Africa will have an increase in poor people. This will support crime growing under the guidance of a corrupt government with very poor service delivery and anti-private sector policies.
