Recently, the Royal Danish Embassy in South Africa invited the South African Pork Producers’ Organisation (SAPPO) to participate in a study tour to Denmark on biogas.
SAPPO representatives James Jenkinson, Michael Fysh, and Johann Kotzé accompanied a group of experts to the Gemidan waste treatment plant and the Bigaden biogas plant.
As part of this biogas study tour, the team all also visited a farm biogas plant and received an overview of the upgrading process and the wide variety of raw materials that could be used in waste-based biogas plants.

The South African Pork Producers’ Organisation (SAPPO) coordinates industry interventions and collaboratively manages risks in the value chain to enable the sustainability and profitability of pork producers in South Africa.
