Dr Thandi Chiappero joined SAPPO on 1 July as Programme Manager: One Health Consumer Assurance. Thandi grew up in Nelspruit and later studied at Onderstepoort on a bursary of the Mpumalanga government. She repaid the bursary by working as a government veterinarian within the Veterinary Public Health Programme based in Witbank; auditing and inspecting abattoirs and related facilities.
Thandi is married to Jonathan, a mining engineer who specialises in software development. They have two children, Esmé (3) and Jeriah (three months.) They live in Centurion.
One health, especially environment health is her passion, says Thandi. She also loves reading and cooking.
