Meat production in China could reach 89 million tons by 2025, according to targets laid out in China’s plan to advance agricultural and rural modernization during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025). This would represent an average growth of 2.8% in 5 years from the 77.5 million tons produced in 2020.

The plan also states that the government wants to stabilize pork production capacity at about 55 million tons to prevent fluctuations in production. For reference, China produced 41 million tons of pork in 2020.
