Planet Savers | Partnership with Lynca Meats
As part of its ongoing commitment to community upliftment and nutrition, SAPPO has partnered with Planet Savers and Lynca Meats to provide protein-rich meals to children and pensioners through a sustainable nourishment project.
Operating under the Botshabelo initiative, Planet Savers already served 200–250 beneficiaries daily , nearly 17000 meals per month, but lacked a consistent source of quality protein. Since joining the project in March 2025, SAPPO has filled that gap by supplying certified South African pork, ensuring that every meal supports both health and dignity.
This partnership reflects SAPPO’s “Think Smart. Think Pork!” campaign and its mission to promote affordable, nutritious protein in communities where it’s needed most.
“Through our partner Lynca Meats, we are supplying high-quality, South African-produced pork as part of the nourishment project,” says Mpho.
Mason Lincoln Special School | Partnership with Bluff Meats
At Mason Lincoln Special School in Umlazi, a new chapter of care is being written through SAPPO’s nourishment project in partnership with Bluff Meats.
The school , founded in 1943 and home to 438 learners with physical, intellectual, visual, and developmental disabilities, has long championed holistic education and inclusion. In 2025, SAPPO joined forces with Bluff Meats to strengthen the school’s meal programme, ensuring every learner receives a balanced, protein-enriched meal each day.
This initiative builds on Mason Lincoln’s existing hospitality and food-production unit, launched with community partners, and embodies SAPPO’s commitment to social investment and food security in under-resourced areas.
“Through our partner Bluff Meats, we supply quality, South African-produced pork to Mason Lincoln’s nourishment project, ensuring that learners receive nutritious, protein-rich meals,” says SAPPO.
Sense of Taste Chef School | Partnership with Winelands Pork
The Sense of Taste Chef School in Cape Town brings learning and giving together through its nourishment project, supported by SAPPO and Winelands Pork.
Here, 20 culinary students a year are trained in the art of working with pork, learning sustainability, respect for the whole carcass, and creativity in meal preparation. The result? Skills for life, and meals for the community: Around 1500 disadvantaged individuals benefit from the project each week.
Established to provide practical culinary education, Sense of Taste has become a natural fit for SAPPO’s drive to connect nutrition, education, and social responsibility.
“Through our partner Winelands Pork, founded in 2001 in the Western Cape and known for its uncompromising quality, we supply premium pork to Sense of Taste Chef School’s training kitchens and community nourishment project.”
Together for change
Across South Africa, SAPPO’s nourishment projects demonstrate how purposeful partnerships, with producers, processors, educators, and community leaders, can drive meaningful impact. By putting quality protein on the plate and opportunity in the hands of those who need it most, SAPPO continues to nurture both nutrition and hope in equal measure.
The South African Pork Producers’ Organisation (SAPPO) coordinates industry interventions and collaboratively manages risks in the value chain to enable the sustainability and profitability of pork producers in South Africa.
