In early 2025, MALU embarked on an ambitious retail initiative – the Ultimate Promo campaign – leveraging SAPPO’s SA Pork retail kits to boost pork sales across key regions. Running from January to March, the campaign aimed to incentivise retailers to achieve specific sales targets through a series of rewards and in-store activations.
The top 10 performing stores, located in Bloemfontein, Welkom, Orkney, and Klerksdorp, were selected for exclusive in-store promotions. These events featured one- to two-day activations where MALU representatives engaged directly with customers, utilising materials from the retail kits – including bunting, stickers, and Correx boards – to create an inviting shopping environment. Shoppers were treated to pork samples, and hourly lucky draws offered branded merchandise, including caps, aprons, and MALU T-shirts, further enhancing customer engagement.
The success of the Ultimate Promo campaign underscores the effectiveness of SAPPO’s SA Pork retail kits in driving consumer interest and sales. The kits have been gaining traction nationwide, with retailers embracing them as valuable tools for enhancing in-store marketing efforts. Notably, a recent initiative in the East Rand saw several independent butchers express strong interest in adopting the kits to modernise their marketing strategies and attract more customers.
MALU extends its gratitude to SAPPO for providing the resources that made these promotions possible. Encouraged by the positive outcomes, MALU is planning to launch a similar promotional campaign in the coming months, aiming to replicate and build upon this success.
