The first phase of the study of the Bureau for Food and Agricultural Policy (BFAP), in collaboration with SAPPO, is now available. The study deals with the quantification of the South African pork value chain.
The study concluded that parallel to consumption trends, the development of smaller producers is critical. Many consumer preference of pork are formed around what they see from smaller producers’ production practices in their region and improvements in this regard can also influence such perceptions and meat preferences.
The South African Pork Producers’ Organisation (SAPPO) coordinates industry interventions and collaboratively manages risks in the value chain to enable the sustainability and profitability of pork producers in South Africa.
