The Italian Council of Ministers has approved a decree providing aid to the swine industry with a budget of €50 million.

The aid is divided into two funds: “Partial capital fund for structural and functional interventions in the field of biosecurity” with a budget of €15 million for the year 2022, aimed at strengthening structural and functional interventions in biosecurity, thus protecting Italian pig farms from the risk of contamination by the African swine fever virus, and the “Current fund to support the swine industry”, with a budget of €35 million for 2022, intended to compensate operators in the swine industry who are adversely affected by the ban on the movement of animals and exports of processed products.
