China will sell 10,000 tonnes of frozen pork from state reserves on Friday 14 August.
Reuters reports that the auction was announced on the China Merchandise Reserve Management Centre website on 10 August.
This most recent auction closely follows the sale of 20,000 tonnes of frozen pork on 7 August. China has already sold more than 420,000 tonnes of pork from reserves this year to tame prices that have soared after the deadly African swine fever decimated the domestic pig herd.
The South African Pork Producers’ Organisation (SAPPO) coordinates industry interventions and collaboratively manages risks in the value chain to enable the sustainability and profitability of pork producers in South Africa.
