Emily Byers, DVM, with Prestage Farms, is frequently asked: How do you know if PCV3 is real? She says the more important question may be: How do you know if or when you should intervene?
“There is enough experience with PCV3… to show it is a pathogen of concern that does cause disease,” Byers says. “There are things we can do to make it better. We can’t explain why or how, but that will come.”
An important part of medicine is evaluating a response to a treatment or an intervention – even if the pathogen is not understood completely, Byers explains.
